What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is social coding event where programmers, designers and developers collaborate to solve a problem and compete for prizes. It’s one part party, one part work-your-butt-off battle against the clock and the competition.
Why would someone participate in a hackathon?
People participate in hackathons for lots of reason: the challenge, the creative outlet, the community collaboration, the networking, the swag…
Who is this event for?
This event is open to all students.
Who can participate? Are there any prerequisites or required skills?
Anyone is welcome to participate in this event. While experience coding and programming is a huge plus, teams will also need people with strong presentation skills and brilliant ideas.
Do I need a team?
While you do have the option of working alone, a Hackathon is a team event so working with others is encouraged. There are a few ways to find teammates: You can pick your team from people you already know. Or we can help you find a team during the event.
Will there be training?
There is no pre-event training, but we’ll have mentors on site who will be more than happy to answer your questions throughout the event.
Is there a maximum team size?
Teams of max. 5-6 are preferred but this is not a strict limit. If you feel strongly about participating with a bigger team that is fine.
Is there anything that I need to prep?
Other than finding fellow brilliant minds with complimentary skills to team up with, there is nothing that you need to prepare in advance.
Are there rest or sleeping rooms available during the event?
No. The event will last from 9.00 – 22.00 on the first day and 9.00 – 17.00 on the second day.
How much does it cost?
Where can I find directions to the building?
This year’s Hackathon will be taking place at Tomato World. The address is Zwethlaan 2, 2675 LB Honselersdijk.
